Introduction: what is menopause?

If you are in your 20ies or early 30ies you probably think it’s not me and I don’t want to do anything with menopause. However hormonal imbalances can happen at any stage in life and it's good to learn what to expect and how to manage the symptoms.

As women age, their bodies go through a number of changes. One of the most significant changes is menopause, which occurs when the ovaries stop producing eggs and the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body begin to decline. This can lead to a number of symptoms, including irregular menstrual cycles, hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain or loss, hair loss or thinning, and mood swings.

While menopause is a natural process that all women go through, it can be accompanied by a number of bothersome symptoms. For some women, these symptoms can be so severe that they significantly interfere with their quality of life. Fortunately, there are solutions available that can help to ease these symptoms and make menopause more manageable.

What causes hormonal imbalances in the body?

There are several reasons why some women might develop a hormonal imbalance.

A woman might experience hormonal imbalances based on personal history. We need to discuss factors such as when menstruation began, how many pregnancies were, and how many children one had.

Stress-what is our stress level and how are we managing it?

Relationships - if our relationships were nourishing or abusive.

Self-confidence - how was/is your self-esteem? Do you tend to blame yourself, or do you keep negative thoughts inside of you?

Are you taking the pill?

Do you take prescription medications?

Are you eating healthy and nourishing foods that support the body?

Are you exposing yourself to toxins such as pesticides?

Are you on an extremely low-calorie diet?

Do you tend to over-exercise or not exercise at all?

How to balance your body when you are not in menopause yet

If you are not in menopause yet, but your body is already out of balance it’s important to take care of yourself. There are a few things you can do to help balance your body.

First, start paying attention to what type of foods you are eating. Are there any processed foods, non-organic meats, dairy, sweets?

Attempt to evaluate how you are doing if you take coffee out of your diet. Check if your symptoms improve or not.

Try to add more vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts to your diet.

Aim for 20-30g of fiber every day

Also, aim to eat organic foods whenever possible.

Your nutrition therapist may also agree with incorporating a good multivitamin, as a healthy method for those who do not get enough vegetables and fruits in their diet. Feel free to talk to your health practitioner about your liver health, especially if it is overburdened with work it has to do. If the liver is in poor condition, supplementing with herbs like milk thistle, goldenseal, dandelion roots or burdock root may help.

You should try finding better ways to prioritize yourself. That way, you'll be able to reduce stress, improve your mood, and overall well-being. Start with these simple tips and see how much better you feel!

Conclusion

In conclusion, although menopause might be decades away for you, how you treat yourself now will play a huge role in how you feel later on in life. Therefore, it is important to take care of yourself both physically and mentally in order to ensure a happy and healthy future.
